We will show you a series of stretches for the neck. We recommend you try them separately and in order. If you are having pain and discomfort, we are searching for the stretch that may relieve your pain. These are designed to be done multiple times a day.

1. Chin Tuck in seated position.

2. Neck extension - usually start with a belt or towel.

Mike holds a towel with both hands that is wrapped around the base of his neck and gently pulls up on the ends of the towel.

3. Neck extension with towel/belt pulled down to the floor.

Mike is sitting in a chair holding a towel around his neck. He is tilting his neck back while gently pulling down on the towel.

4. Neck extension leveraged with mid-back on the back of the chair.

Mike is sitting in a chair, tilting his head back.

5. Neck extension with end-range rotations.

6. Chin tuck and side bend toward painful side. (If it reduces pain – continue).

Mike is standing and tilting his head back and to the painful side while doing a chin tuck.

7. Rotation with selvage of towel or with belt. Or use hands. Chin tuck and rotate to painful side. If it continues to hurt and pain does not centralize (become more focused or shrink). Chin tuck and rotate to nonpainful side.

Mike is sitting in a chair with a towel behind his neck and across his left chin. His head is turned to the right, and he is gently pulling the towel.
