Tool #5 How to Sit Without Back Pain at Home

Bob and Brad discuss how to sit without back pain at home.

How to Sit Without Back Pain: Bob & Brad's Quick Guide

Most of us spend hours sitting—eating, working, driving, watching TV. So it's no wonder back pain is on the rise. Here's the thing: bad sitting posture doesn't just hurt now—it reshapes your standing posture too. Your spine remembers the slouch.

The Problem

When you sit in the "C-position" (rounded, slouched, flexed) for hours without moving, you're stressing your back. It's the combination of bad position plus zero movement that kills you.

The Fix

Lumbar Support

Use a throw pillow (or rolled towel) behind your lower back. You'll feel the difference immediately.

Avoid Overstuffed Furniture

If you're in pain, skip soft couches and recliners when possible. If you must sit on them, use that throw pillow.

Firm Chair with Armrests

Ideal for maintaining posture and easing up/down movement.

Move Regularly

Every 30 minutes: increase and decrease the arch in your lower back. Get up and walk around. Change positions frequently.

The real takeaway: You don't need perfect posture—you need to sit consciously with proper support and regular movement breaks. Your spine will thank you.
